Sonja Johansson has been teaching the Feldenkrais Method since 1999. She takes her years of experience in the fields of dance and theatre performance, fitness training, anatomy and kinesiology and integrates them with the Feldenkrais Method to create powerful, life changing programs. Working primarily with performing artists, athletes and those recovering from injury, Sonja also has a special focus on aging adults, particulary those dealing with balance issues and neurological conditions.

HYVA Nordic Walking - full body, low impact, outdoor workout
Walking with Nordic poles engages your whole body creating a balanced, dynamic workout on continually changing terrain. Real time Neuro-Movement instruction provides a full mind/body experience, invigorating in a natural way.
Exercising outdoors or “green exercise” has many additional benefits to indoor fitness activities, including stress management, improved self-esteem and mood, increased frequency of exercise, and improved sense of well-being. Clear your mind while working out in nature - escape the urban jungle in the nature oasis of Central Park.
Sonja will be providing personalized instruction on this moderate paced walk. Class includes a warm up, basic instruction, 45 min walk and cool down. We provide the Nordic Walking poles and audio - you just need to bring a set of headphones to plug in.
- Nordic Walking involves 90% of ones body muscles.
- Nordic poles deflect an estimated 25% impact from knees and lower joints.

Develop ideal core activation via creative movement explorations informed by the neuro-motor practice of the Feldenkrais Method®. Innovative sequences will challenge your mind-body, eliminating counter-productive muscle involvement while leading to efficient patterns of coordination, better spinal/pelvic alignment and breath. The novel movement sequences will improve your posture, alignment and balance while reducing pain. Using a roller to multiply your movements and sensations creating novel actions, the constant changes in support elicits curiosity and develops agility.
